Graduation
Rules for obtaining a CAS or a DAS in Translational Nephrology of the University of Zurich and the University of Bern (21 Dec. 2022)
For the CAS and the DAS, 5 or 6 e-learning modules, respectively, with face-to-face sessions, performance audits and exams at the end of each module are mandatory. Each module will be accredited with 3 ECTS-points.
CAS (minimum of 15 ECTS points):
For obtaining a CAS, the successful completion of 5 e-learning modules (5 x 3 = 15 ECTS points) is required.
DAS (minimum of 30 ECTS points):
For obtaining a DAS, the successful completion of all 6 e-learning modules (= 18 ECTS points) is required.
Additionally, 9 ECTS points must be obtained during the program for individually agreed activities. These may for instance be active attendance (e.g., with poster or oral presentation) of conferences, congresses, retreats or relevant workshops (generally 2 ECTS points per event).
Finally, the successful presentation of a diploma thesis is required. This thesis normally consists in the publication of an original article or a systematic review or, upon agreement, of an extensive review in a peer-reviewed journal, normally as first, or last author (generally 8 ECTS-points). Alternatively, it may consist in the completion of a teaching project (setup of a new Case Based Learning module) (3 ECTS-points).
Graduation
After successful participation in the course and depending on the achieved ECTS-points, the Universities of Zurich (leading house) and Bern award the degree “Certificate of Advanced Studies” (CAS) or “Diploma of Advanced Studies” (DAS) in Translational Nephrology. The corresponding certificates will list the content of the program and achievements of participants.
